I love #1 (in no particular order!) For mental illness, I have been diagnosed, and something like your list has been my strategy for a number of years now. When depression hit in the past, I would be terrified that I was slipping back under the murky water, never to surface again. These days, I acknowledge the feeling, but I tell myself I know it's temporary. Then I consciously spend time just looking around, counting all the gifts I still have, regardless of depression. I can THINK joy, even if I can't FEEL it. And you know what? It always passes! (I'm glad the pain meds are working! Thank you Lord for pharmaceuticals!)Bobbi Juniorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16366421883424533929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8832690428927787329.post-4204648032655308192015-07-11T18:43:13.951-06:002015-07-11T18:43:13.951-06:00Joy--you need to let that rebel out more often bec...Joy--you need to let that rebel out more often because life really should be full of surprises. I remember hearing a story once of a tradition for cooking turkey that had been passed down the generations until it was not known why they did what they did. The issue, though, was the tradition was no longer necessary due to advance in technology, so they were wasting their time doing something no longer necessary! I LOVE this metaphor. I'm sure you look back on that year now and say, "Wow! God did this. He brought us through. If He can bring us through that, then He is faithful to bring us through anything!"
